How to delete your account

From inside the app (recommended)

1. Open Outrly
2. Go to the Profile tab
3. Tap the account menu (···) in the top right, or scroll to the Account section
4. Tap Delete account
5. Confirm twice to permanently delete

Deletion runs immediately. You will be signed out, and your account will no longer be accessible.

By email

If you cannot access the app, email us from the address associated with your Outrly account at support@outrly.app with the subject line “Account deletion request.” We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 days.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following are removed within 30 days:

• Your profile (display name, email, avatar, home location, preferences, push notification token)
• Your favorited species and followed hotspots
• Your alert subscriptions and notification history
• Your profile photo
• Your password (immediately, on account deletion)

What gets retained

For the integrity of the community wildlife dataset, the following are anonymized rather than deleted:

• Sightings you logged that have been viewed, voted on, or referenced by other users — your user ID is removed, but the observation details may remain without attribution to you
• Votes you cast on other users’ sightings — anonymized; confirmation counts may remain without your identity

Sightings you logged that no other user ever interacted with are deleted entirely. If you need complete erasure of all contributed sightings, email support@outrly.app.

Backups

Routine database backups containing your data may persist for up to 90 days before being overwritten in the normal backup rotation.
